Lecture about Management

The lecture we had today was incredible... I could have clear thinking how people manage many tasks in organization and communty including schools and companies. Before I attended today's lecture,I had no idea what the management is because my study field is totally different from this topic.

The only thing I couldn't get satisfied with the lecture is that the lecturer, John didn't mention enough about the point of the exact strategy, how business people use the ideas about universal traits in reality.

I just wondered it might depend on the culture how people can be succesful in business or not for the reason that different culture have different way of communication in business fireld even though he pointed out the universal traits have influence on management. I am sorry that he didn't focus on it a lot in the lecture.

I really appriciate the opportunity to have attended this lecture, which brought me valuable interetst in business field...

My reseach paper

I have 5 pages of my research paper now. The only thing I am trying to do from now is to keep writing. I think I have enough information ... if I need more information it will be some articles about the bilingual education system in monolingual culture. When I am writing the paper, I feel like the more I write the worse the quority is going to be... but I think I need to continue. And I will organise the whole paper after I finish writing.

How I leant how to write

I remember when I started to write the basic Japanese characters called Hiragana. It was when I was… maybe more or less 4 yrs old in daycare center I was going. Maybe I leaned how to write them from my mother or my father, and I really enjoyed exchanging letters with my friends. The letters were even like a sentence but instead it included drawings and graffiti which I just put my name and my friends’ name on paper.

Next step was after I entered elementary school, I started learn how to write three kinds of Japanese characters which are Hiragana, Katakana, and Chinese characters. I can understand people from different background are often surprised to see my writings in Japanese because I use three different kinds of characters at the same time but they establish my language. The first time I learned how to write my name in Chinese characters, I was so happy and I showed them everyone I met. I was such a kid who liked to write letters on everything.

For me, it was quite hard to keep practicing learning Chinese characters because they are uncountable … I still have bunch of characters that I can’t write in my own language.

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year for those who celeblate the new year in this season!

I didn't know that poeple in China , Korea, and some Asian countries have celablation in Feburary before I came here ! hehe

Me, I say 'Happy New Year' only in January 1st in my country. However I am so happy that I can say that twice in this year!

I heard that in Korea, babies who are born in this pig year are belived to bring lots of fotune and happiness to family, so many women try to have baby in this year! It sounds so interesting to me! Is it true, Jeoung Hwan?

I hope everyone had a good time with family and friends in this weekend (≧▽≦)

See you on Monday♪

The problems with the world population

(1)
The only thing I find optimistic trend in terms of population is raising life expectancy in some countries. In Japan, for example, the average of life expectancy for women is 84, and for men 78, according to the video we watched. I think everyone would like to live healthier and happier when they get older… As the medical technology and the attention to people’s health have been improved, more and more elder people can live longer. However, this movement also brings us negative aspect such as the problem with the nursing place and the lack of people who can look after these elders.

(2)
The thing I worry about the most in terms of the changing population is the declining birthrate in developed countries. I understand well why Japanese young women hesitate to have babies because of the stereotype in the society. One more thing is about the high death rate of AIDS in African countries. It’s seriously tragedy situation if a child is born with decided future to die in a short period because of the disease Aids which mother bring to him or her.

(3)
In industrial world, the first thing governments need to pay attention is the problem with the declining birthrate. In order to solve the problem, it’s good idea to support couples to have more babies. They can have some kinds of support system for mothers, for instance, increasing public baby sitters which are available in reasonable price, or decreasing the work pressure for both mothers and fathers.

For Adrianne The process of Preparing to write the essay question

How I prepared for writing essay question is like this:

(1)First, I understand what the question wanna me to answer exactly in order to answer the question appropriately, and it took time a lot. And this first step was finished with picking up three main ideas to make a raugh plan of writing.

(2)Next, I start to find the information which is useful for me to support my idea from readings the listening, and the lecture. What I did is to find my words in margine which I though siginificant in reading or the notes that I took in the lecture.

(3) At last, with looking at the writing plan and the information, I create essay writing.

That's all the thing I usually do in the progress of writing essay by using information!

How to improve my ability of studying

The reading teaught me lots of things...

For example, it's important to find an appropriate place to study where I can concentlate on study... For me, maybe it can be liblary, sometimes coffee shop depending on my mood.

The thing I found to be interesting is that we should reward ourselves after studying. mmm... I think I always give too much rewards to myself.

I also learned about the tips to improve reading skill. To make sure you understand a text or documents, it's better for you to ask yourself 'What does the author, or this chapter wanna tell me? ' I think I am gonna try it from now.

At last, I was shocked when I read, even a teacher is difficult to understand, attending classes helps your studying.... from my experience in my uni in my country if I don't understand what professor talking, I skip the class often. Ok, I promise, I will try to be a gooood student.

Today's lecture

Hello,everyone.

I personally enjoyed the lecture in this morning a lot. I will tell you mainly, my opinion toward the lecture here!

In the lecture, the differnt communication patterns in Male and Female were focused on from th point of view of linguistics and pragamatics. The word of pragmatics was new to me, but I understood well thanks to the the lecturer's explanation, how we chose word. The lecturer explained about the Cultual difference in communication patern with an expample of Japanese and Amrican students' discussions.

What I found when I heard the situation of Japanese students.... ? as one of Japanese, is... let me see, well, yeah it all depends. What he said was right in a way, because people in Japan care about the others' feeling so much. That's why ! I can't say 'No' directly to anyone, that's why I don't wanna disagree with someone's opinion....

Next, what do I think about the different patterns of communication between gender?
I totally agree! I didn't even think of it! That men don't share their personal experience a lot is true. On the other hand, female try to share the feeling and understand each other through the conversation including body lunguage. Yep, but I would say the style how to communicate varies in different culture. For example, in my country it is considered to be rude to stare at someone's eyes directly while talking. It's opposite from the culture here...

Summary of my topic

The thing I found so far about my topic, bilingualism is...

In the past time, learning second language was not so common in the world. As the world have been globalized, the fenomenon of bilingualism are getting popular.

In this whole world, some countries have policy to be builingual country, the others keep being monolingual.
The reasons why the country become bilingual are various, for example, the history of being colonized by the other country is a factor of them.
Education system in bilingual culture costs a lot and needs people including teachers.

There are some key points to raise children as bilingual, which are home exeperience, cognitive support, parental involvement and so on. Younger children can learn the other lanuguage easier. Some of them have problem in the progress of learning 2nd language such as transfering new word into their own language.

The benefits to be bilingual can be seen in all kinds of aspects; earning more money on their business, being flexible when they communicate with the others, the ability of expressing theirselves, and so on.

P.S. I wanna find more information about the education of bilingualism and try to find the disadvantage of being in a bilingal culture if possible.

Free Writing "Happiness"

The first thing that comes up to me on the word of happiness is to have a good family in my life. In my opinion, the most significant thing I need to be happy through my life is to find the place where I can be truly relaxed. For me, the place is going to be ‘family’. Therefore, I would really love to find a partner who I can rely on a lot and who I feel like I want to live with for ever.
Next, I found that the other tip to be happy is being proud of oneself. If you can’t trust yourself or you cannot be satisfied with your life, I think it is possible t be feel happy and also to be kind the others, either.
I believe that happy people can make the others happier because someone who feels depressed might be helped to smile when he or she see the other’s smile. This is like a inflection among people. In the whole world there is no one who doesn’t want to be happy, but the different thing is the way to try to be happier. Some might try to make more and more money to be, others don’t and try to be satisfied with the situation surrounding them. The way to pursuit happiness is of course different by individual, but we can say that the goal every one aim is actually same.
